Grand Theft Auto 6 has been the talk of everyone despite the lack of an announcement for its release date. The whole gaming community is excited for the arrival of the game as the sixth installment of the series but will this be the last one of the games under the title? If that would be the case, then, the anticipation may actually be worth the wait.
Grand Theft Auto, created by David Jones and Mike Dailly, first released in 1997 for Windows and MS-DOS and in the same year, for PlayStation. Two years after, more commonly known as GTA, the game released on the Game Boy Color. The gameplay of GTA follows a criminal who aims to become big in the criminal underworld of three cities based on real-life places. Players of GTA would need to complete missions per city where they gather points to proceed to the next chapters.
The game lets the players drive and shoot to accomplish a mission and throughout the years, the game series expanded into online gaming which was a focus of Rockstar Games after the release of the last installment of the series GTA 5 which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. It is true that developing games is a tedious task which requires an intricacy on the details and with Rockstar Games having other titles under their belt like the Red Dead Redemption series, it has been a recurring question whether Grand Theft Auto 6 would be the last game of the series.

Rumor has it that Rockstar Games could be shifting their focus to their online services with the cost of doing away with their premium titles released on consoles and other devices. With the advent of the internet being highly demanded especially after the global pandemic proved its necessity, online games get more attention than those which aren't. From the success of GTA Online, speculations arise on Grand Theft Auto 6 being the last game of the series.
Various factors can come into consideration should GTA 6 be the last of its series. There is the factor of the game being the most expensive video game ever created and looking at what happened to GTA 5 existing for ten years and maybe even more without the next installment and still being profitable, the developer of the game could sustain for another decade given the possibility of the profitability of GTA 6. Another possible factor is the difficulty of developing a game. It takes years to build a whole new gameplay with the intricacies of the development of any game to keep the players interested to what's next.
Should GTA 6 would not be the last game of the series, it is unlikely that GTA 7 would happen immediately after the release of GTA 6 when it gets a release date. Just looking at the decade it took between GTA 5 and GTA 6, and the latter still not out, it might take the same number of years, even more if there would be GTA 7.
Still, without an official announcement from Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto 6 remains as one of the much anticipated releases in the near future.
