The Marvel Cinematic Universe opened its doors to more possibilities when it made the jump to Disney Plus in introducing new shows that would fill in the gaps between the movies of the franchise. WandaVision was the first to step into the scene and it did not disappoint marking a new era in the MCU as it became a fan-favorite among the viewers. It even has a spinoff series with Agatha: Darkhold Diaries which will explore the villain of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness, following the events of the first series, and Kathryn Hahn just revealed that the show is on its last stretch as the production ends soon.
Kathryn Hahn's MCU debut was a huge success in WandaVision where she started as the nosy neighbor of Wanda and Vision in Westview. As it turns out, she is Agatha Harkness, an age-old witch who held the Darkhold for years, maybe even centuries, and channeled its powers for her longevity. Kathryn Hahn spoke to The Hollywood Reporter with an exciting news as to the production of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries:
The excitement from Hahn resonates as Agatha: Darkhold Diaries only has a few days left before they call it a wrap. The principal photography of the series ended in May 2023 and now that reshoots are almost over, the series is bound to enter into post-production soon. The show was affected by a delay due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
What is Agatha: Darkhold Diaries about?
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will pick up its pace from the events of WandaVision's finale where Wanda put Agatha into a trance and left her in Westview so she could forget her past about being an ancient witch. The series will show how Agatha breaks off of the trance and upon remembering her powerful past, she tries to use her powers only to find out that she does not have those anymore. Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is set to put Agatha into her journey as she tries to get her abilities back, possibly no matter what the cost would be.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries marks the return of Kathryn Hahn into the MCU as Agatha Harkness and she will be joined by some familiar faces and MCU newcomers such as Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, Joe Locke as Billy Kaplan, Ali Ahn as Alice, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Billy's boyfriend, Emma Caufield Ford as Sarah Proctor/ Dottie Jones, David Payton as Herb, Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/ Mrs. Hart, David Lengel as Harold Proctor/ Phil Jones, Amos Glick as pizza delivery guy, Asif Ali as Norm, and Kate Forbes as Evanora Harkness, Agatha's mother.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is scheduled for a Fall 2024 release on Disney Plus.
