WandaVision was a groundbreaking Marvel series on Disney+ as it marked the start of a new era with the MCU finally making shows to support the bigger universe of movies. In the most peculiar way possible, the series brought up an impressive way of storytelling and with Kathryn Hahn's character standing out, she scores her own spinoff show titled Agatha: Darkhold Diaries which will follow the events of the WandaVision. The upcoming series is also expected to bridge some gaps and finally address some fan complaints from its parent show.
The MCU started with the shows on Disney+ to tell the stories happening in between movies and it started with WandaVision to show the effects of Infinity War and Endgame to Wanda Maximoff that she held a whole town hostage due to her grief. The antagonist in the series, Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, also scored her own spinoff with Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. On X (formerly Twitter), @CanWeGetToast hints that the upcoming Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will be addressing a WandaVision fan complaint about how the Westview incident was contained when it came out of the public where the federal government announced that the event was an "Avengers Training Exercise."
Over the last few years with the MCU, Phase Four and Five brought up various questions that remain unanswered like the corpse of Tiamut in the ocean being seemingly forgotten despite how massive it is, the bugging question on how world leaders would contain the fact of Skrulls infiltrating the government, and the likes. All these are expected to be explained in the future MCU projects.
What will Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will be about?
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will be bringing what happened to Agatha Harkness after the events of WandaVision. It could be remembered that Wanda put Agatha into a trance for her to forget her past as a witch but being an ancient one, it wears off soon and Agatha tries to get back to her old life. The synopsis of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries reveals that she was without any powers when she came to her senses so she would journey into wherever she can to get her abilities back.
Other than that, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will be bringing the MCU debut of Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, Joe Locke as Billy Kaplan, Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, Ali Ahn as Alice, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Billy's boyfriend. Returning faces from Westview are Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/ Mrs. Hart, Emma Caufield Ford as Sarah Proctor/ Dottie Jones, David Payton as Herb, David Lengel as Harold Proctor/ Phil Jones, Amos Glick as pizza delivery guy, Asif Ali as Norm, and Kate Forbes as Evanora Harkness, Agatha's mother.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is slated for a Fall 2024 release on Disney Plus.
