Vincent D'Onofrio first started playing the role of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, in the Daredevil show on Netflix. Marvel had a few titles under the streaming platform which included the members of The Defenders in their collective show and each of their respective origin stories. Recently, all the Marvel's Netflix shows had been made canon in the MCU and D'Onofrio explains how this all happened thanks to the upcoming MCU series Daredevil: Born Again.

Much to the excitement of the Marvel fans who watched the Marvel's Netflix shows, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio made their respective MCU debuts in different circumstances which all leads to the upcoming MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again. The two briefly appeared in Echo whose story is directly connected to the highly anticipated Daredevil show in the MCU, and other than the actors, their previous show has already been included in the MCU as the Marvel's Netflix series were all deemed canon. Vincent D'Onofrio shared to The Hollywood Reporter this change that happened and it is all because of Daredevil: Born Again:

During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again , all the creatives got together and said, 'Look, this is how we've got to do it now.' So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil , and that's a great thing. It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history. So we're all talking about Daredevil: Born Again in those terms now.

Daredevil: Born Again has faced various do-overs as it entered the MCU scene. As compared to when the previous shows weren't canonized in the MCU, D'Onofrio thought that the story would matter more now that the history of Daredevil and Kingpin from the previous Daredevil Netflix series formed part of the MCU narrative.

Since the series is still under production, the details confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again still remain scarce but there are still those information which are already out for the public. The series is expected to bring the big face-off between Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/ Daredevil, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin and the show picks up from the events of Echo. The ending of Echo revealed that Kingpin heard the news of the disastrous New York City mayoralty race and the look on his face seems to point to the Mayor Fisk arc of the character from the comics where Kingpin runs and wins being the mayor of New York City.

In the comics, the Mayor Fisk arc involves Kingpin and Daredevil trying to set aside their differences to help the people of New York City but their dark past catches up on them which could lead to a deeper rivalry between them. This could possibly be merged with another comic book arc, the Born Again arc of Daredevil, where Kingpin used Daredevil's weaknesses against him to bring him down. With the Marvel's Netflix series being canon, these story arcs could happen given the dark past of the two.
