Disney+ Has Added These 6 Marvel TV-Produced Netflix Shows to the MCU Timeline

Though Marvel Studios has yet to confirm their canonicity, Disney+ has already added them to the MCU timeline.

Disney+ has made a major change to the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline after the release of Echo. With Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk appearances in the series, which started with She-Hulk and Hawkeye, this renewed the talks about the canonicity of their original Marvel Television-produced show on Netflix. So, to seemingly make things official, Disney+ has already added the six DefenderVerse series to the MCU timeline.

On Disney+’s Marvel tab, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher are already on the MCU list. This comes after the streamer and Marvel Studios released an Echo trailer featuring footage from Netflix’s Daredevil.

The trailer in question features Kingpin's backstory, from when he was still a child to his becoming a powerful businessman and crime lord. It shows Daredevil still wearing his iconic red suit. “I’m asking forgiveness for what I’m about to do,” the Man Without Fear says. From there, the preview transitions to the newly released Echo, showing the story of Wilson Fisk and Maya Lopez. It’s also good to note that the Daredevil clips have the series’ title and a promotion that all episodes now stream on Disney+.

On which part of the MCU timeline does Netflix’s Marvel series fit?

The placement of Netflix’s Marvel series in the MCU timeline has been a hot topic. These shows are considered non-canon as the Marvel Studios movies have never referred to or connected any of these films’ events to these series since the MCU began. So, now that Disney+ has added them to the MCU timeline, many wonder which part of it these shows fit.

On the timeline, Daredevil and Jessica Jones come after Guardians of the Galaxy movies before Avengers: Age of Ultron, making them part of Phase 2. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders follow Ant-Man, ending Phase 2. Hence, these three original Netflix series are still part of that timeline. Lastly, The Punisher comes after Spider-Man: Homecoming, placing it in Phase 3.

Though Marvel Studios or Kevin Feige has yet to confirm that the six Netflix Marvel series are canon, this may be enough acknowledgment that they’re part of the MCU timeline. That said, it may take no time for their stories to start anew on Disney+, just like the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.
