The Man Without Fear is one of those who had to say goodbye to the small screens. The fans rally behind Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock and the MCU answered everyone’s plea with Daredevil: Born Again.
Charlie Cox is officially back as The Man Without Fear in Daredevil: Born Again as the Marvel Cinematic Universe gives him his own series. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel, Daredevil: Born Again was officially confirmed to be in the works by Kevin Feige and the series is set to have 18 episodes on Disney Plus. The show will form part of Phase Five of the MCU.
Matt Murdock already appeared in the franchise in a short cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as the attorney of Peter Parker after the fiasco of his identity being revealed to the public by Mysterio. Daredevil is also the love interest of Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk: Attorney-At-Law. In the said series, Daredevil unveiled his brand new red and gold suit, and his classic golden helmet from the comics.
On October 27, 2023, THR reported that Dario Scardapane, whose recent credits include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Netflix’s Marvel show The Punisher, has been tapped to work as the new showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again. Additionally, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, the co-directing team who directed episodes of Loki Season 2, have been tapped to direct the remaining episodes that will constitute Season 1.

Daredevil: Born Again was originally given a release window of Spring 2024 but currently, the series was put on hold indefinitely because of the SAG-AFTRA strike which massively affected the production of the show. The strike caused Marvel Studios to fire the directors and writers of the series which resulted in the delay in the creation of the story. The only light at the end of the tunnel is that the series was only delayed indefinitely and not canceled.
According to a new listing at the U.S. Copyright Office (via The Cosmic Circus), Daredevil: Born Again is eyeing a January 2025 premiere.
Who are the cast of Daredevil: Born Again?
Charlie Cox is back as Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Again. Charlie Cox first donned the suit of The Man Without Fear in his titular Netflix series which was canceled after the three seasons. Marvel Studios heeded the call of the fans to bring him back as the lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen and he is confirmed to have his own show in the franchise. However, it remains unknown whether the MCU will continue his storyline from Netflix but with his actions, it seems that the narrative will be changed.
The nemesis of Daredevil, Kingpin, also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Vincent D’Onofrio already made his way into the franchise as Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye. There, Kingpin is the uncle of Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, and a glimpse of his criminal empire was revealed. His wife in the series, Vanessa Fisk, will reportedly be played by Sandrine Holt whose involvement in the show is already confirmed.
Margarita Levieva will reportedly play Heather Glenn, the girlfriend of Matt Murdock. Michael Gandolfini has been cast in an undisclosed role but what he revealed from the character is that he came from Staten Island. Arty Froushan also joined the show as a character named Harry. Nikki M. James will be playing Kirsten McDuffie, who is an assistant district attorney whom Matt Murdock became romantically connected with.
Other characters in the MCU which could appear on Daredevil: Born Again are Alaqua Cox’s Echo who is the niece of Wilson Fisk and would have her own titular series soon, and Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk following their playful relationship in She-Hulk: Attorney-at-Law. From the Netflix series, it is still unknown whether Deborah Ann Woll who plays Karen Page, and Elden Henson who portrays Foggy Nelson would be back.
What is the plot of Daredevil: Born Again?
There is still no official plot synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again. The production of the series has been put to a halt, thus, it remains unknown how the narrative will go on considering the situation. Whether it would continue with the story of Netflix is also a question left unanswered.
In the comics, Born Again is one of the darkest times for Daredevil where he faces Kingpin who attempts to destroy the hero. Kingpin uses Karen Page’s struggle to be able to manipulate Daredevil’s feelings for her and thus, putting Matt Murdock in a vulnerable state. Should this be the narrative that the MCU would go for, the studio still has a lot of wiggle room on what to add or remove or retain given that the show has 18 episodes.
Is there a trailer for Daredevil: Born Again?
With the production of the series put to a halt, the chances of having a trailer for Daredevil: Born Again as soon as possible could be slim. Should the production continue, the earliest possible release of a teaser or a trailer of the show could probably be in mid to late 2024.
