Today, KADOKAWA has released the first full-length trailer for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3, with the video featuring the opening song SIN by MADKID. The ending theme song of the new season will be Suki ni Natte wa Ikenai Riya by Chiai Fujikawa.
The anime is based on the KADOKAWA-published Japanese dark fantasy isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami, which began in 2013 and has 22 volumes as of June 25, 2019. The isekai series is currently published by Media Factory. The first two seasons of The Rising of the Shield Hero premiered in 2019 and 2022, and the third season is scheduled to begin airing in Japan this October.

The new season will be directed by Hitoshi Haga (assistant director of Made in Abyss) instead of Season 1's Takao Abo or Season 2's Masato Jinbou. Other new staff joining the production include Franziska van Wulfen (animation director of Bocchi the Rock!) and Sana Komatsu (animation director of The Rising of the Shield Hero), who are credited for character designs with the previous seasons’ Masahiro Suwa.
Returning staff for the upcoming season include Keigo Koyanagi as the series composer, and Kevin Penkin, who will once again serve as the music composer. Additionally, the animation production company Kinema Citrus will be sharing the credits for series composition and scriptwriting with Koyanagi. Notably, the co-production company for the second season, DR MOVIE, is no longer featured in the primary animation production credits.
Several new cast members will be making their debut in Season 3, including Ami Koshimizu as Nadia, Kouhei Amasaki portraying Fohl, Konomi Kohara as Atla, and Maria Naganawa as S’yne.
