A new visual has been released for Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 featuring Fran and Teacher at the center with an updated look that underscores how far the pair has come since their first journey. The artwork highlights the bond between the cat-eared adventurer and the sentient blade as they head into a new stretch of travel and combat. Japanese television broadcast begins October 7 after an early streaming window on ABEMA that opens September 30.
Shinji Ishihara returns to direct the sequel at studio C2C, with Kazunobu Shimizu serving as assistant director. Takahiro Nagano is handling series composition and scripts, while Atsuko Saito is overseeing character designs and chief animation direction. Yasuharu Takanashi of Team-MAX is composing the music for the new season.
The same core creative team that shaped the first season is carrying those responsibilities forward into the follow-up. That continuity keeps the look of the characters and the tone of the action aligned with the earlier episodes. Production remains at C2C as the series moves into its next arc.

What is Reincarnated as a Sword about?
Yuu Tanaka writes the isekai fantasy light novel series Reincarnated as a Sword, which Llo illustrates. Micro Magazine publishes the print edition under its GC Novels imprint after the story first appeared as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The series mixes adventure, action, and fantasy as a reincarnated sword and his cat-eared partner travel a dangerous world in search of strength and answers.
The web novel ran from October 2015 until February 2024 before the print edition continued to grow. Twenty volumes have been released in Japan so far, and Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English-language light novels. Those books established the partnership at the center of the franchise long before the anime arrived.
Tomowo Maruyama illustrates the manga adaptation serialized by Gentosha after an initial run in Denshi Birz and a later move to Comic Boost. Seven Seas Entertainment also licenses the manga for English release alongside the novels. The core premise of the franchise is captured in this synopsis:
After dying in a traffic accident, an unnamed man awakens in another world as a sentient magic sword. He retains his memories except for his own name and soon seeks a worthy wielder. That search leads him to Fran, a young Black Cat Tribe girl fleeing slavery, and the two form a partnership that carries them across a dangerous fantasy land as they grow stronger together.
Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 will stream exclusively on HIDIVE as part of the platform’s Fall 2026 simulcast lineup. New episodes will arrive for subscribers outside Japan as they air domestically. HIDIVE previously carried the first season and is bringing the sequel to the same audience as a simulcast.
