Rockstar Games has spent years keeping the cast of Grand Theft Auto VI under wraps, even as trailers and an extended look put several supporting figures on screen. That wall of silence has now been cracked, with the first performer attached to GTA 6 speaking openly about appearing in the game.
Stephen Root was at the BAFTA TV Tea Party at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in California, where he was supporting his Emmy nomination for his role as Wyck in Apple’s Widow’s Bay. Asked there about rumors linking him to GTA 6, Root acknowledged his involvement (via AP).
“Yeah, you’re going to see me in there,” he revealed. “I think from the first rollout of GTA that they were doing almost a year ago they had my character in there, and there were too many people that knew me from King of the Hill and my voice. So, I think that secret kind of got divulged then.”
“I’m so happy to be involved with it; it’s an amazing thing to look at,” he remarked.
Root is widely recognized for voicing Bill Dauterive on King of the Hill and for playing Milton Waddams in Office Space, among a long list of film and television credits. He will play Brian Heder in GTA 6. Although he did not spell out the character name in the AP interview clip, his unmistakable delivery is easy to isolate across the various GTA 6 trailers.
Brian Heder operates as a veteran drug smuggler around the Leonida Keys and functions as more than background color in the story. He is a key figure with his own profile on the official GTA 6 website, which frames him as an old-school runner still moving product through his boatyard with his third wife, Lori, while preferring to let others handle the risk.
The official GTA 6 site also maps Brian directly onto the lives of the game’s two playable leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Jason lives rent-free at one of Brian’s properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns and the occasional stop for Lori’s sangria, which places the older smuggler at the start of Jason’s working life in Leonida rather than on the margins of it.
Lucia Caminos arrives in that same orbit after time in prison, with official materials placing her origins in Liberty City and her present in Leonida beside Jason. Rockstar has presented the pair as partners hunting a score large enough to change their standing, which makes Brian’s Keys operation one of the first criminal networks they have to navigate rather than a throwaway side job.
Other named figures on the official site sit around that same southern stretch of Leonida, from Vice City’s neon corridors to the quieter islands and waterways of the Keys. Those profiles treat the supporting cast as people with trades, marriages, and territorial habits instead of nameless street dressing, which is why Brian’s page stands out as more than a cameo listing.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With one of the game’s most recognizable supporting voices now on the record, Rockstar’s remaining cast list looks even harder to keep sealed until that date.
