Michiro Ueyama, the creator of Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san (The Middle-Aged Man that Reincarnated as a Villainess), has revealed that a TV anime adaptation of his series is in the works. In another X post, he added, “I can’t give you any information about the staff, cast or broadcasting date yet, but it’s true that the anime is currently in production!”
The announcement of the Akuyaku Reijo Tensei Oji-san anime came with the publication of the manga's sixth volume on January 3, 2024. The manga is written and illustrated by Ueyama and Shonen Gahosha has been publishing it since March 2020. The first volume was released on December 16, 2020.

According to a recent interview with Solo Leveling publisher D&C Webtoon biz, alongside Solo Leveling: Ragnarok‘s webtoon adaptation, 8 of their 10 most popular works featured “Villainess” in the title. As Ueyama said, there are no additional details about the anime adaptation yet, so fans will have to wait for more details as it's likely that the project is still on the early stages. There's clearly a strong audience for this kind of isekai anime, so we can expect this trend to continue.
