A new Korean mystery thriller is about to hit Netflix this August 2024. Led by the Sweet Home star Go Min-si and the veteran actor Kim Yoon-seok will lead The Frog, which will see a mysterious guest’s arrival that will change the life of a holiday cottage owner. So, to unravel the unknown, Min-si, Yoon-seok, and other cast members talk about their characters and storylines as the fear and terror are about to begin.
The Frog will see Yoon-seok’s return on the small screen 17 years after Make the Most of What You Have. Here, he will play Young-ha, who runs the secluded summerhouse in the middle of the woods. Young-ha moves to Seoul to fulfill his wife’s wish and now operates the pension house, which holds their fond memories. However, the unexpected happens when Seong-a (Min-si) arrives and starts a series of unforeseen events.

In an interview with AllKpop, Yoon-seok described his character as constantly in conflict in the series. The actor teased that Seong-a would provoke him to unleash the monster in him and that there would be an endless fight between the two.
“I wanted to convey and express the battle between Seong-a, who tries to conquer Young-ha by planting a monster inside him, and Young-ha, who resists her,” he said.

Min-si will be seen as Seong-a in The Frog, a mysterious guest who will ruin Young-ha’s once peaceful life. As she becomes obsessed with his vacation home, she starts to create a scene for which nobody knows the reason.
After playing Lee Eun-yu in Sweet Home, the 29-year-old star revealed that her new character was the most challenging she had ever played. Hence, she didn’t want her to become simple or predictable and intentionally created something new as she played the role.
“I remember feeling a chill throughout my body every time I read the script,” she continued. “The story’s flow and the relationships between the characters were so intense that I couldn't help but be completely absorbed.”

Yoon Kye-sang will join The Frog as Sang-joo. Like Young-ha, he operates a vacation home with a stunning lake view. However, his life has also changed after having a mysterious guest who puts his life at risk.
As Sang-joo is a devoted family man, Kye-sang wanted his role to be seen as sincere and kind. So, the actor made a significant transformation and changed his acting approach, wishing to portray someone who hadn’t faced any hardships and would be surprised by the sudden drastic events that came his way.
“There are moments when a person who has lived a diligent, loving life suddenly faces a huge shock but cannot immediately express their emotions,” he explained. “I wanted to navigate those gaps carefully.”

Lastly, Lee Jung-eun will play Bomin, who works as a former detective and becomes a police officer who will investigate the mysterious case of the pension house. With her natural ability to catch criminals, her character will bring another layer of tension to The Frog.
Hence, as she plays her role, Jung-eun reveals that her approach is driven by her character’s desire to catch the perpetrators and not just because she wants to fulfill her duty. As an actress who often portrays spontaneous and emotional characters, Bomin is far different.
“I collaborated closely with the director to learn and develop new aspects, like driving and handling a gun and approaching the case in a different way,” she said.
What is The Frog about?
The Frog will tell the story of two men, Young-ha and Joon, who run the same holiday cottage in a secluded area. However, the two operated the place in different years. Joon handled it first in the 2000s, while Young-ha oversaw it in the 2020s. After looking after the same place, their lives both change after receiving a mysterious guest.
