Stranger Things Season 5 is now deep in production in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming started in January, following the end of the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023. To give a glimpse of the production, Netflix has released a behind-the-scenes video that teases it will be “the best season yet.” But the streamer isn’t the only one that claims there will be an epic finale. In addition to Jaime Campbell Bower and Millie Bobby Brown, Brett Gelman, who plays Murray Bauman, says the fifth and final season will be satisfying for fans.

In an interview with ScreenRant to promote his new Apple TV+ show, Lady in the Lake, Gelman talked about Stranger Things Season 5. Knowing the season is under lock and key, the actor was very careful not to give anything away. However, that didn’t stop him from teasing that the viewers would very much enjoy what the final season had in store for them.

“It's, obviously, the most secretive thing I've ever worked on, but I think the fans — you included — will be very happy with season five,” he said.

The 47-year-old star also gave a filming update, saying the production is “going great.” Eight months after the cameras started rolling, he says fans will soon get hints about the next installment through a couple of teasers that may be released soon. However, the only way that they can know what will truly happen next is when the show is finally released.

“I think you'll learn in the same way that everybody's learned in the past. You'll probably get some teasers, a couple of teasers, and then the big way you'll find out what's going to happen is the show,” he explained.

As Gelman can’t say anything major about Stranger Things Season 5, he’s thankful everyone understands him and his position. He also understands that not everybody wants to know what will happen until they see the series, saving the surprise when the final season finally hits the small screen. However, fans don’t have to worry; he claims it will only be a “minute” until it finally happens.

“A lot of people don't want to know, a lot of people want to be surprised, but they're eager,” he continued. “It's hard. It's gonna be a minute, probably, until it comes out.”

What is Stranger Things Season 5 about?

Details about Stranger Things Season 5 remain scarce, but it’s expected to continue where the previous season left off. After Vecna (Bower) succeeds in his plan to open portals to the Upside Down in Hawkins and takes over the town in the fourth season finale, the fight against Henry Creel and his league of Demogorgons may happen in the real world. The upcoming season also needs to address the fate of Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) after falling into a coma following her second encounter with the humanoid beast.

“We were like, ‘We know what’s going on in the Upside Down, more or less, but we want it to be unknowable. We want it to be mysterious,’” co-creator Matt Duffer told Tudum.

Ross Duffer also teased that there would be big reveals in the fifth season, and they would greatly affect the final showdown. As for Murray, he may continuously help Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), and the rest of the gang in their fight against Vecna.

Stranger Things Season 5 still has a lot of questions to answer, from Max’s future to how Vecna can be defeated to who Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) will choose between Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) and Steven Harrington (Joe Keery). Though it remains to be seen what will happen, viewers will surely be in for an exciting conclusion to one of Netflix’s flagship series.

Stranger Things Seasons 1 to 4 are available on Netflix, while Season 5 is expected to be released in 2025.
