The upcoming Spice and Wolf TV anime has released a non-credit version of the opening theme song, Tabi no Yukue (The Journey’s Destination), performed by Hana Hope. Studio Passionate is in charge of animating the reboot based on the Japanese light novel series written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Jū Ayakura. The new Spice and Wolf anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 1, 2024, with Netflix and Crunchyroll streaming the reboot outside of Japan. The Japanese voice cast includes Ami Koshimizu as Holo, Jun Fukuyama as Kraft Lawrence, and Mai Nakahara as Norah Arendt, who all reprise their roles from the 2008 TV anime. Takeo Takahashi (Spice and Wolf Season 1 and 2 director) will be the chief director of the reboot, while Hijiri Sanpei (Yuri is My Job!) will serve as series director; Koji Haneda as character designer; Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss) as music composer; and Kazuhiro Inoue as the art director. The anime is confirmed to run for two consecutive cours.
What is Spice and Wolf about?
Hasekura and Ayakura's Spice and Wolf light novel series was published by ASCII Media Works published it from 2006 to 2019 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint, with a total of 22 volumes. The series also received a manga adaptation with art by Keito Koume that ran from September 2007 to December 2017. A sequel novel titled Wolf and Parchment written by Hasekura and illustrated by Hidori started serialization in September 2016 and is currently ongoing. Yen Press licensed both the light novel series and the sequel in English.
