Over four decades of adventures in the galaxy far, far away has introduced to different generations various characters that spearheaded every journey. Fan-favorites come and go, and some of them return to reprise their roles, may it be short appearances or an entire series centered on the character. For Natalie Portman's Padmé Amidala who hasn't returned yet in any Star Wars project, the actress revealed that he remains open to come back but unfortunately, no one has asked her yet.
Lucasfilm has been quite busy building an empire on Disney+ with their various series that keeps the franchise alive and breathing with new content where they could potentially expand the current galaxy far, far away. Over time, familiar faces like Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen already reprised their roles from the prequel trilogy as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker respectively. As per Natalie Portman, she spoke on Watch What Happens Live about her thoughts on coming back as Padmé Amidala where she revealed, “I’m open to it,” but she remarked, “no one has asked.” Portman proceeded to look back on her time as Padmé Amidala:
The Phantom Menace in 1999 introduced Natalie Portman as Padmé Amidala, the teen queen of Naboo, who, after serving as a royal, became a senator. Her story brought her to marry Anakin Skywalker secretly, have twins Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, and die while giving birth in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Her death marks a pivotal point in time in the franchise as such is what drove Anakin to the dark side of the Force.

There are a lot of ways on how a character could return in Star Wars. An example would be Anakin Skywalker who previously returned in Ahsoka as a Force ghost and through a flashback, or Obi-Wan Kenobi who got his own titular series on Disney Plus. There could be various factors on how Natalie Portman can come back as as Padmé Amidala.
X user @blurayangel suggests that Portman can be back as Amidala through Abeloth, a villain from Legends which was already set up in Ahsoka. The theory goes like this: he Father, Son, and Daughter once lived with Mother who corrupted herself through the use of forbidden power and became Abeloth, the Force of pure chaos and entropy. As such, Abeloth could take the appearance of Amidala as a way of mockery or possibly a reminder that she, too, was a mother.
Another is an awkward offer from Taika Waititi whom Natalie Portman worked with in Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi has an upcoming Star Wars movie and Portman revealed to GQ magazine:
Where would you like to see the return of Natalie Portman as Padmé Amidala? All Star Wars titles are available on Disney Plus.
