The announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been one of the highlights of the decade after it took ten years before a new installment arrives into the franchise. With so much hype built up on the game, the prices for GTA 6 could go ballooning to the roof but without any official announcement yet, speculations surrounding it can put it at any price point especially during its pre-order.
Take-Two officially calls GTA 6 in their press release that the game is the "biggest" and "Most immersive" game under Rockstar Games, and it is expected to be a blockbuster on its own, on top of the whole franchise being a blockbuster itself. It took a decade to bring GTA 6 to life after GTA V and those who witnessed the trailer reveal forms part of the world breaking record of the clip. While not much are known for GTA 6 other than those in the trailer and those from the leaks, here is a speculation on how much it will cost upon pre-order.
GTA 6 Price Speculation: How much will the pre-order cost?
There are a lot of factors that could play into the price of GTA 6 during its pre-order. First, there is the consideration of what device will the players use because more often than not, there is a difference in the price point if one will buy for PlayStation 5 and one for Xbox Series X/S. As of the time of writing, there is still no PC release happening announced for the game.
Second is the change in today's prices. In 2013, the first release of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS3 was just $59.99 USD but with more efforts poured into the game and considering more soft wares are becoming available, the price goes up with these innovations. Comparing it to other games like NBA 2K24 and Marvel's Midnight Suns which recently released, GTA 6 could be comfortably priced at around S70 USD. With some math, looking at the estimated budget of GTA 6 ranging around $2 billion, Take-Two and Rockstar Games would also likely bring the prices up to reach this target.
Third, with so much of a high demand, the game could be as expensive as $100 depending on the release strategy of the publisher. The number of people waiting to have the game remains high and there are some that will purchase the game regardless of the price. Riding with the hype could bring bigger revenue.
Can you pre-order GTA 6 now?
As of the time of writing, GTA 6 still has no pre-order details available yet. It could take a few months before the release of the game before it comes out. If Rockstar Games will follow the trend of Red Dead Redemption 2 which only became available 130 days before the launch, GTA 6 could do the same and since it is rumored to come out in Q1 of 2025, then, GTA 6 could be a perfect Christmas gift for gamers as it could be available in around September to October 2024.
