Since the word got out that there will be the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto game franchise, the gaming community has been talking about it for months even before it was officially announced, and when Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA 6 is coming up with its first trailer release, the whole world stood still. Following the hype that the upcoming game has and still having some time left before GTA 6 launches, the GTA 6 mapping community has already set their ultimate goal. They are trying to create the map of the upcoming game before it is officially released, and they may have just scaled the may of the new Vice City.
The gaming community has scoured for months before the official announcement of GTA 6 through its record-breaking trailer reveal and even after that, the search for new information continues. This would not seem to end especially with the excitement of everyone built up in a decade of not having a new GTA game. Recently, on X (formerly Twitter), user @GameRollGTA shared how the mapping community is putting all efforts to create the GTA 6 map and provided the scale of the new Vice City in the upcoming game. As per the post, the GTA 6 mapping community scaled how massive Vice City would be and there were also locations such as South Beach, and possibly the Venetian Islands taking up the half of Los Santos. The project of the mapping community is rumored to have started when the massive leak last September 2022 came out and following the release of other information, the mapping community made progress. Still, it would be wise for the fans to wait for the official GTA 6 map and to take this detail as a grain of salt since things could still change once Rockstar Games releases the game.
Where will GTA 6 take place?
The first trailer of GTA 6 confirmed that the game will be taking place in a place called Leonida, and this was also revealed in the official press statement of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, which states, "Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet." Leonida is the fictionalized state of Florida and the game is expected to see Vice City once more after the fictionalized Miami City appeared two decades ago.
The latter part of the GTA 6 trailer also included parodies of various viral videos online which happened in Florida and even showed resemblance to real-life people who are in Florida. The vast city merges with the outskirts of the place and it is expected to bring the full Florida-like experience in Leonida with the environment of the game being fit to the place.
GTA 6 is set to come out in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
