Guinness World Records has announced that the GTA 6 trailer has managed to break 3 official records in just the first 24 hours of coming out. The trailer was initially supposed to launch on December 5, Tuesday, at 9 am ET, but since it got leaked on X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar Games decided to release it 15 hours early.
This decision was made because they wanted fans to watch the high-definition version instead of a partially obstructed one that had a Bitcoin Watermark on it. Currently, the GTA 6 trailer has 105 million views within 37 hours of its release. The first trailer of its predecessor, GTA 5, came out nearly 12 years ago and has only 101 million views.
The GTA 6 trailer was described as “the most sought after video since the release of the Grand Theft Auto V trailer 12 years ago” by Guinness World Records. The very first Guinness World Record that the trailer broke is for being the most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, in which the trailer managed to get 90,421,491 views.
The second Guinness World Record the GTA 6 trailer broke was for the most liked video game trailer on YouTube in 24 hours, during which it received 8.9 million YouTube likes. This title was previously held by the popular game Battlefield 1, which gained a total of 2,380,630 likes. While this is quite impressive, the GTA 6 trailer is technically the most liked trailer on YouTube ever to exist, not just for a video game.
In the past, this was held by the official trailer of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, which received 4.1 million likes. The third official Guinness World Record the GTA 6 trailer broke was the most-viewed YouTube video within 24 hours (non-music), getting 90,421,491 views. Previously, this title was held by the popular content creator Mr. Beast since August 2023, in which he gained 59.4 Million views.
What are some other records that haven’t been acknowledged yet?
The GTA 6 trailer is not only the most-watched video game trailer in 24 hours but the most-watched trailer ever to be uploaded in 24 hours. However, there is another record the trailer has broken for the fastest non-music video to reach 10 million, 20 million, 50 million, and then finally 100 million views.
GTA 6 has already begun setting the bar much higher than expected with just its reveal trailer, logo, and a piece of artwork. So, fans are forced to wonder which records the release of the game will break. One thing we can say for sure is that the upcoming much-anticipated game will continue to break records!
