Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, recently hinted at a PC launch for Grand Theft Auto VI, even thought the highly-anticipated game hasn't officially been announced for the platform. Last May, Take-Two stated that Rockstar would "make more announcements in due time", and earlier this month, the company teased that a PC launch is in the cards for the game. All we know is that GTA 6 is currently set to launch on consoles this Fall, and the update left many wondering when GTA 6 would be released for the PC. Now, PC accessories company Corsair Gaming has suggested we could be seeing GTA 6 launching on PC as soon as early next year.
Speaking in the company's 2024 Q4 earnings call, Corsair Gaming's financial VP Ronald van Veen said: "GTA 6 is probably the one everyone is talking about. And we'll get a glimpse of that, I think, later on in the year for console. My understanding now, it's going to come out in the fall [autumn] for console, and then early 2026 for PC." (via VGC)
If that proves to be the case, it's a pretty fast move to PC when you consider Rockstar's previous releases. Grand Theft Auto games have historically launched for consoles before releasing on PC at a later date. Therefore, it's expected that GTA 6 will be making its way to PC following its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launch this Fall. Grand Theft Auto V, for example, took two years to arrive on the PC. Another example: Red Dead Redemption, which released back in 2010, just launched on PC last year. While it's unlikely PC gamers would have to wait more than a year, a PC launch date closer to consoles would be most welcome.
Earlier this month, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the growing importance of the PC gaming business, and the company's strategy for launching titles for the platform.
“So with Civilization 7 it’s available on console and PC and Switch right away,” he said of Firaxis’ new game. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”
“We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue,” Zelnick added. “Of course, there will be a new console generation [too].”
During Take-Two's earnings call earlier this month, the company said that GTA 6 is still on track to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this Fall. Speaking to IGN, Zelnick said that while "there's always a risk of slippage," Take-Two "feel really good about it [fall 2025]."
Hopefully, Rockstar will release Trailer 2 for GTA 6 soon. You can watch the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI here:
