Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games. reported its financial results today, and the good news is that the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is still set to release in Fall 2025. During the earnings call, Take-Two listed GTA 6 for Fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Despite rumors claiming that the game will likely be pushed for a 2026 release, this update assures fans that it's still on track for its previously-announced release window.
"Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two," official documents revealed the company's release schedule (via The Independent).
"We plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, GTA 6 in the Fall, and Borderlands 4."
Prior to the financial report, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN that while "there's always a risk of slippage," Take-Two "feel really good about it [fall 2025]."
"Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick told the outlet when asked how confident he was that Rockstar Games will hit GTA 6's Fall 2025 release window. "So we feel really good about it."
When IGN asked for an update on GTA 6's development, Zelnick was careful not to reveal anything major, keeping it humble:
"Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally," he stated. "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Speaking further about the company's schedule to Variety, Zelnick said that the 2025 calendar is Take-Two’s "most extraordinarily exciting release schedule I think we’ve ever had".
"We’ve announced a pretty narrow window. So I think our view is that right now, that’s fine," he assured.
While its release window remains unchanged, GTA 6's long-awaited second trailer has yet to release. It's been over a year since the first trailer for GTA 6 was released, and the gap has made the gaming community worried about its release.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and it's still scheduled to release in Fall 2025.
