Much to the surprise of the fans, Charlie Cox reprises his iconic role as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as see in various MCU projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. To make everything more exciting, his archenemy played by Vincent D'Onofrio, also jumped ship to the MCU where he returned as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Hawkeye. However, as per Deborah Ann Woll who played Karen Page before, the actress confirms that she will not reprise her role in Daredevil: Born Again even if she misses playing the character.
Charlie Cox suiting up as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil from his Netflix series to the MCU has been a delight for many fans and with Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin, the tandem is expected to rekindle their rivalry in Daredevil: Born Again. However, for some of the cast of the Netflix series like Deborah Ann Woll, she already knows that her doors are already fully closed on the possibility of reprising her role as Karen Page when she spoke to Screen Rant. She said:
You might not see the Karen Page story, but she's having a whole TV show on her own that no one filmed. Make sure that, for our characters, who are not superheroes or are not the lead fighter in that way, that we just continue to honor that they have full lives. That's what I really appreciated about my time playing Karen Page, and I would hope that if I got to do it again or if it continues, that people would have the same care for her.
Woll also shared how playing Karen Page will be one of her favorites in her career:
Look, playing Karen Page was one of the great roles of my career so far. I have such enormous love and respect for her, for myself, for the story that we created together. I think any iteration of Karen that comes back, if she comes back, if it's me, if it's not me, if it's in comic books, if it's in 50 years, whatever it is, I just hope that it continues to honor her. That you're never just the sidekick.
Woll is not the only actress who will not reprise her role from the Netflix series as Elden Henson, the actor who played Foggy Nelson, also confirmed that he will not be returning for the role. Both Karen Page and Foggy Nelson have great significance to the story of Daredevil and how the MCU will pull that one off without these characters remains unknown.
Who will be returning in Daredevil: Born Again?
Daredevil: Born Again will, of course, witness the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil who previously appeared as the counsel for Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the love interest of Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Joining him in his series would be Vincent D'Onofrio who will be back as Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin after his brief appearance in Hawkeye. One who is yet to make his MCU debut is Jon Bernthal who is set to reprise his role as Frank Castle/ The Punisher.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be set up by the upcoming Marvel Series, Echo, which will deal with the titular character played by Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. The series will bridge the gap in the MCU on how the paths of Daredevil and Kingpin would cross.
