The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot on its plate and one of those projects is Daredevil: Born Again with Charlie Cox returning as the titular character, the lawyer from Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock. Of course, his story would not be complete without his archenemy, Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, played by Vincent D'Onofrio. The latter actor just revealed a promising update for their upcoming face-off in the MCU, rekindling their history from the Netflix series they starred in years ago.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are back in the game as they reprise their respective roles as Daredevil and Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they are expected to meet again in the upcoming Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again. While the show had some setbacks following the various delays in the production, Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio shared a promising update that the fans will surely love. Speaking with Post-Credit Podcast, D'Onofrio shared that the series "for sure" will be under the Marvel Spotlight banner and that the vibe of the show will follow its Netflix predecessor, "It's the same tone and feel. The attention that the bosses are giving to it is extraordinary."
To those who aren't familiar with the Marvel Spotlight banner, it would be featuring stories that are more character-centered which brings a closer look at the grounded narratives of those in the show. A series related to Daredevil: Born Again gets the first brand under the Marvel Spotlight which will be Echo, the show about the titular character who is directly related to Kingpin. Echo is also expected to set-up what happens in Daredevil: Born Again.
What other updates are there for Daredevil: Born Again?
Aside from the update from Vincent D'Onofrio, recent news revealed that Daredevil: Born Again will not be happening in 2024 as it does not form part of the Disney+ slate for the coming year. Thus, this brings the series to a 2025 release which could be proper as the show undergoes significant creative shifts following the removal of its lead writers and directors even when the show already filmed half of the series as Marvel's big boss, Kevin Feige, deemed it necessary for an overhaul. Recent Marvel productions faced huge disappointments which led to the shift in the air behind the scenes.
Daredevil: Born Again could follow the source material from the Marvel Comics titled Born Again where Daredevil faced one of his darkest times as Kingpin attempts to destroy the hero through the use of Karen Page’s struggle to be able to manipulate Daredevil’s feelings for her, leaving Daredevil vulnerable.
Daredevil: Born Again has no official release date yet.
