The sequel trilogy introduced Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker in Star Wars from The Force Awakens, until her last appearance in The Rise of Skywalker. Recent news had made the actress' name ring again after various news about her upcoming Star Wars movie to be helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. In a new report, however, it revealed that Daisy Ridley will be reprising her role more than once which means that there is another movie where she could be back as Rey Skywalker.
Rey Skywalker was one of the centerpieces of the sequel trilogy and her story continues as it was confirmed that she would return in the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie. Daisy Ridley shared that the new direction of the franchise made her agree to come back and it seems that the stars are aligning for her when she comes back to the movie scene, not just once in her own film, but twice with another Star Wars film involving her. As reported by insider Jeff Sneider, Rey Skywalker could be involved in some capacity in the upcoming Shawn Levy Star Wars movie.
In September 2023, Shawn Levy spoke to Collider as regards the status of his upcoming Star Wars movie which he revealed to be on hold for a moment because at that time, the strikes were still ongoing. Still, the project remains under development and the possibility of having Rey Skywalker in it seems plausible, too. That only means that the Shawn Levy Star Wars movie could be around the same timeline as that of the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie or the sequel trilogy.
What is the current status of the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie?
Recently, there were a lot of rumors around the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker in Star Wars which included a lot of reports as to its delay in production especially as regards some possible conflict with the scribe Steven Knight. These were finally debunked by Lucasfilm wherein the movie is confirmed to be still under development and not delayed at all. That being said, as listed on Production List, the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie could proceed with their scheduled April 2024 filming which they had been eyeing for months already.
The upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie is more often called as New Jedi Order as it will follow the story of Rey Skywalker 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. Rey made a promise to Luke that she would rebuild what is left of the Jedi Order after it was brought to chaos following the First Order.
Daisy Ridley's Star Wars movie is set to start filming in April 2024. The film has no release date yet.
