Blue Lock Season 2, one of the most highly-anticipated anime sequels this year, finally kicked off last week, continuing the story based on the original manga by author Muneyuki Kaneshiro and artist Yusuke Nomura. Dubbed BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN, the second season begins with an intense soccer match between Blue Lock competitors and U-20 team, and the winner will ultimately decide the future of the Blue Lock Project.

If the eleven Blue Lock players who are selected to compete claim victory against Japan's team, the Blue Lock Project's search for the world's best striker will be allowed to continue. However, if they lose, the competition will be immediately come to an end and each player's potential soccer career will instantly be terminated.

Today, the official website and accounts of the anime have revealed the preview stills for Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 2, which is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, October 12. While the first episode of the new season is more like a set-up episode that goes over what the upcoming Blue Lock vs. U-20 match will look like, the second episode promises to bring back the anime's signature adrenaline-fueled action that the first season delivered.

What will happen in Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 2?

According to the English translation in Blue Lock anime's official website, the title of the second episode is Hitman and Ninja.

The official synopsis for Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 2 reads:

The tryout to decide the regulars for the U-20 Japan National Team is a one-on-one match between the TOP 6 members, split into three teams of two, and the remaining 29 members, who will form groups of five, and compete in a five-on-five match. Kiyoshi, who joined Team A led by Itoshi Rin and Shido Ryusei, approaches the match with the theme of "asserting" and "coexisting" with the two. In the early stages of the match, Kiyoshi supports Rin and Shido while looking for an opportunity to show himself off. However, he is forced to struggle against the overwhelming feinting technique and sharp analytical skills of Karasu Tabito, the opponent of Team B, who is unable to play as he wants...

What is Blue Lock about?

The anime is based on the award-winning Blue Lock (ブルーロック, Burū Rokku) manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. The sports/thriller series began publishing in 2018 under Weekly Shonen Magazine, and it won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category. Crunchyroll, which is streaming the first season of the anime, shared a plot description for Blue Lock:

Japan’s desire for World Cup glory leads the Japanese Football Association to launch a new rigorous training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players are pitted against each other for the position, but only one will come out on top. Who among them will be the striker to usher in a new era of Japanese soccer?
