Kelsey Grammer's Hank McCoy / Beast is one of the most beloved castings in Fox's X-Men universe of films. The 69-year-old American actor made his debut as Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), then reprised the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and more recently, he surprised viewers when he made a cameo in the post-credits scene of The Marvels, which showed Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) accidentally getting to a new universe with Beast and an alternate version of her mother, Maria Rambeau / Binary (Lashana Lynch). During an interview with Comicbook.com, Grammer talked about the positive response to his surprising appearance in The Marvels, and hinted at the "conversations" about his potential return.
"There's nothing I can talk about," Grammer told the outlet. "What I do know is that there was a huge sort of outburst when I showed up at the end of The Marvels, I guess it was. The response was really almost... it wasn't unexpected. There'd be some response, but it was pretty overwhelming, and so there are some conversations."
Latest Rumor About The MCU's X-Men Reboot
Shortly after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox's assets back in 2019, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige assured fans that an X-Men reboot was in the works, and the studio recently started to share official updates on the project. Marvel Studios tapped The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes scribe Michael Lesslie to write the script, and while a director has yet to be confirmed, it's believed that the development is expected to ramp up in early 2025.
Now, a recent rumor from Daniel Richtman, a scooper with a solid track record, has been spreading on social media recently. According to Richtman, Wolverine will not be featured in the MCU's upcoming X-Men reboot, and that the team will be "similar" to Marvel Animation's X-Men '97 animated series with some other characters joining the roster. Logan will reportedly not be on the team because Hugh Jackman will continue to play Wolverine, likely even after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Given the massive box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine, it would make sense for the studio to bring back Jackman as the iconic clawed mutant, but not including Wolverine in the rebooted X-Men roster is a decision that some fans might not like. Wolverine is clearly a huge draw for general audiences, but some fans also want to see more focus on other X-Men characters in the upcoming projects as Fox's previous X-Men films put Logan into the spotlight more than the other mutants.
Back in July, Feige was asked by DiscussingFilm about how it feels knowing that "we’re closer to seeing the X-Men and Avengers together on the big screen", and he said:
