Taking up a hero's mantle is already hard but to go after two other beloved renditions and still make a brand of your own makes one a gem. When Tom Holland suited up as Spider-Man, he reminded everyone why Spider-Man remained to be a fan-favorite over the years that he is already the third actor to play the role in various movies. While he remains open to reprise the role, Tom Holland, however, has one condition in returning as Spider-Man.
It took years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a Spider-Man and when Tom Holland stepped in and suited up, he did not disappoint. His contributions to the franchise made his stay worthwhile and his character remains to be one of the Marvel fan-favorites. After three solo movies on top of his appearances in team films, Tom Holland speaks up in an interview with Collider where Spider-Man is up to next after No Way Home:
All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won't make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.
Tom Holland made his Spider-Man debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2016 Captain America: Civil War where he was recruited by Tony Stark to be part of his team against Captain America. The following year, he reprised the role under Sony Pictures Entertainment's Spider-Man Universe in Spider-Man: Homecoming. In his latest movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, he finally brought the dream to life as he collaborated with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men which was a total and quality fan service for all the Spider-Man fans.
Is Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 happening?
Usually, solo MCU hero movies only get a trilogy at most like that of Iron Man and Captain America. An exception, so far, is Thor who recently got his fourth film in Thor: Love and Thunder and he remains on the roll as a Thor 5 is in talks. For Tom Holland's Spider-Man, he already have three movies with Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home which are all blockbusters. To have a fourth Spider-Man movie may be a long shot but it is not impossible.
Still, even if Spider-Man 4 with any other word "home" could be paired can happen in the future or not, Tom Holland's Spider-Man can come back anytime in the MCU given the current track of the franchise. Even when everyone forgot who he is from No Way Home, Spider-Man can still play a role in the upcoming films Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars especially now that no one in the MCU remembers him and what he did before which he could use as his advantage against whoever villain. The element of surprise will never get old.
