It's going to be a huge year for The Last of Us. The first season of the critically acclaimed live-action adaptation of the Naughty Dog game series has just received a whopping 10 nominations at the 2023 Emmy Awards. Amazingly, the show got multiple nominations in the major categories this year.
Back in January, The Last of Us immediately captured people's interest and fear with its compelling storytelling. The show also starred Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey who were perfectly cast in their roles as Joel and Ellie, respectively. Needless to say, everyone believed that the HBO show is destined to receive multiple awards this year.
Not surprisingly, the Emmy Awards agree that The Last of Us deserves recognition. The show was nominated in five major categories including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Pedro Pascal, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Bella Ramsey. In addition to that, the show's guest stars were nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actor and Outstanding Guest Actress in A Drama Series category.
Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, who played Bill and Frank in the show's third episode, each got nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor. Child actor Keivonn Montreal Woodard, who portrayed Sam in Episode 4, also got an Emmy nod in the category.
Anna Torv, Melanie Lynskey, and Storm Reid were also nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category. Torv appeared in the first two episodes of the show while Lynskey played Kathleen in Episodes 4 and 5. Reid only appeared in the seventh episode but she helped tell Ellie's backstory in Left Behind.
There is a huge chance that The Last of Us will win in most of these categories and we can't wait to see the actors win. The series has also been renewed for a second season and is expected to return on HBO late next year or in 2025.
