Star Wars: Ezra's New Lightsaber Pays Heartwarming Tribute to Kanan Jarrus

Ahsoka Episode 8 was a long-awaited tribute to the beloved Star Wars Rebels character!

One of the best things about the Ahsoka finale was the eye-opening scene where Ezra Bridger built a new lightsaber in preparation for the fight against Grand Admiral Thrawn. There was so much more to this scene as it also paid tribute to the Jedi's late Master Kanan Jarrus in the best possible way in the Star Wars Universe.

In Ahsoka Episode 8, Ezra left fans pleasantly surprised by crafting a new lightsaber, and what made it even more intriguing was the color of the blade he chose. Throughout the latter part of Star Wars Rebels, Ezra had wielded a green-bladed lightsaber, originally given to him by Sabine Wren before the series concluded.

In the Disney+ series Ahsoka, Sabine made an attempt to return Ezra's lightsaber to him on Peridea, but he declined, preferring to rely solely on the Force. However, this changed in the season finale as Episode 8 showed Ezra constructing a new lightsaber inside Ahsoka's ship, with the guidance of Huyang, a Jedi Temple droid known for teaching young Jedi how to build their lightsabers.

Upon learning that Ezra had been trained by Kanan Jarrus, Huyang presented him with the same type of blade emitter that Kanan had used, marking it as a tribute to his master. Ezra's new lightsaber not only resembled Kanan's in design but also sported a blue blade, a departure from his previous green lightsaber. This choice surprised fans, as his green lightsaber had been a symbol of his growth and experience.

There are a few possible reasons for this color change. One of the most evident reasons could be seen as a tribute to Kanan, as his lightsaber had a blue blade as well. This choice serves as a way for Ezra to honor and remember his former master.

Furthermore, the blue lightsaber might signify a fresh start for Ezra, symbolizing his continued journey and growth as a Jedi in the post-Rebels era. It could represent his evolution as a character and his ongoing connection to the Force. With that in mind, we can't wait to see what he will do with the new weapon in the second season.
