If you watched Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and stayed around after the credits, you were probably disappointed that there was no bonus scene. However, the art book for the animated sequel has confirmed that there was a planned post-credits scene that got cut from the theatrical release.
In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the film concluded with Miles Morales being stuck in Earth-42 after being captured by his Variant from that universe who had taken the Prowler mantle. Meanwhile, Gwen Stacy assembled her own team to search for Miles.
Although the movie ended that way, The Art of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has confirmed that artist Denise Koyama had storyboarded a scene that was supposed to appear after the credits.
In the storyboard, The Spot is at the legendary Bar With No Names that is frequented by other villains. Unfortunately for The Spot, he gets bullied by the other baddies when he tries to order a drink but it spills from the different holes in his body.
It would have been an interesting sequence that features more of The Spot who seemed mostly harmless at first but becomes the biggest threat to the multiverse. We would have loved to see more of the villain but there will be plenty of time to show his power in the third Spider-Verse movie.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse followed Miles Morales as he discovers The Spot's sinister plans while learning about the Spider Society. The sequel also introduced Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099. The character was previously featured in the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse where he was voiced by Oscar Isaac.
For now, the voice cast of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has yet to record their lines for the third movie. However, the sequel is already scheduled for release on March 29, 2024.
