Crunchyroll has announced today that the upcoming Romelia War Chronicle anime will stream on the platform when it premieres later in 2026. The series is also set to hold its world premiere at Otakon 2026 this year in Washington D.C., giving convention attendees an early look at the production.
The anime will be available to stream on Crunchyroll across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS. This extensive regional lineup positions Crunchyroll as the primary destination for international viewers once the series begins its run.
Hiroshi Shirai is directing the Romelia War Chronicle anime at studio Atra. Series composition is handled by Aya Satsuki, previously known for Solo Camping for Two, while character designs come from Yoshiko Saito and Yuta Otaka. The music is composed by KOHTA YAMAMOTO, the same artist who scored TOUGEN ANKI.

The project adapts a popular light novel that has already built a dedicated following through both digital and print releases. Its blend of post-victory political tension and military strategy offers a distinct take on fantasy storytelling that sets it apart from more conventional demon-king narratives.
What is Romelia War Chronicle about?
Ryo Ariyama began serializing the original Romelia War Chronicle light novel series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in August 2019. Shogakukan later published the physical editions under its Gagaga Books imprint beginning in June 2020, eventually releasing a total of six main volumes.
The series belongs to the fantasy and military genres, focusing on the complicated aftermath of a major war against demonic forces rather than the battle itself. It explores themes of discarded loyalty, strategic leadership, and the rebuilding of power by a character previously dismissed by those around her.
Crunchyroll provided a synopsis for Romelia War Chronicle:
Romelia and her party succeed in defeating the Demon King Zelgis, though Prince Henri’s reckless charge forces them into a grueling battle. In the aftermath, Romelia is branded "dead weight" for not fighting directly, and the Prince unilaterally breaks off their engagement. Denied a place in the victory celebrations, Romelia returns home, only to be met with cold indifference from her family and society. Yet, she refuses to break. She has already set her sights on the path that lies ahead.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Ryo Kamito launched in April 2021 and has been collected into five tankobon volumes by Mag Garden to date. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English edition of the manga, bringing the story to a wider audience ahead of the anime’s arrival.
With its world premiere approaching at Otakon and a confirmed streaming home on Crunchyroll, Romelia War Chronicle is positioned to introduce a new wave of viewers to a heroine whose real fight begins only after the supposed final battle has ended.
