GameStop May Be Handing Out Physical GTA 6 Preorder Maps

A handwritten GameStop sign may have revealed a GTA 6 preorder map — if anyone believes it.

A handwritten sign photographed at a GameStop store may have let slip a preorder bonus Rockstar has not announced: a physical collector's map for Grand Theft Auto VI. The photo has set the GTA 6 community buzzing — and just as many fans think it is fake, with the debate showing no signs of cooling down.

The photo first surfaced on the GTA 6 subreddit, shared by Reddit user Small_Masterpiece892. It shows a handwritten sign posted at a GameStop location in Pennsylvania advertising a "physical collector's map" for customers who preorder the game through the chain. According to the sign, preorders also unlock the Vintage Vice City cosmetic pack, and buyers could pick up their orders a full week before the November 19 release date. Moderators removed the original post, but the image keeps circulating on social media.

Skeptics were quick to poke holes in the sign. Rockstar's announced lineup is a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition — there is no Digital Deluxe tier, and no extra content is bundled with boxed copies. The sign's claims about Digital Deluxe content arriving with physical copies do not match anything Rockstar has said. Many fans think the sign was faked or written by an employee who got their wires crossed. That said, there have been sporadic reports of other GameStop locations telling callers to expect a GTA 6 map.

The rumor has legs partly because of Rockstar's own history. Paper maps shipped inside the standard boxed copies of GTA 5 and both Red Dead Redemption games, and many fans expected the same for GTA 6. Instead, the only official map so far is the double-sided poster tucked inside Rockstar's $400 Goodtime State collector's box. With GTA 6's physical edition being a download code in a box rather than a disc, a paper map packed in with a regular preorder would give collectors a cheap way to get the one piece many of them actually wanted.

If real, it would also be the first retailer-exclusive preorder bonus seen for the biggest launch in years — something fans have speculated about for months with no word from Rockstar. Right now every preorder gets the same Vintage Vice City Pack of in-game content.

Neither Rockstar Games nor GameStop has confirmed the sign or any preorder-exclusive map. Until one of them does, the collector's map remains a rumor — one written in marker on a store window, and one the community will keep arguing about.
