The first teaser trailer for Wound & Bandage puts its strange central pairing front and center: a young yakuza underboss ordered to look after his boss's daughter, and a girl whose innocent face hides an obsession with seeing strong people at their weakest. The teaser arrives alongside a "love"-themed visual and confirmation of the two lead voice actors — and the anime now has its premiere date, January 9, 2027.

The teaser draws its scenes from the manga, and it is only the first of four weekly reveals, with a new theme visual and teaser clip set to arrive each week for the next three weeks.

The accompanying theme visual spells out "LOVE" in oversized red letters behind Kiritani and Riyo, framing the pair with red-tinted manga panels of their closest moments.

The two leads are now confirmed. Hisako Kanemoto (Erza Scarlet in Fairy Tail) voices Riyo Washizu, the daughter of a yakuza boss whose organization rules the Kanto region. Chikahiro Kobayashi (Legoshi in Beastars) plays Go Kiritani, the young underboss ordered to serve as her caretaker. Both actors shared comments on the casting news, with Kobayashi nodding to the high-energy morning recording sessions and adding, "I hope you'll look forward to the series."

Behind the scenes, Miyuki Ishida directs the series at J.C.STAFF, with scripts by Susumu Yamakawa and character designs by Natsuki Oyama.

The full broadcast picture is now set: AT-X carries the first broadcast on January 9 at 11:00 PM JST, the ABC TV and TV Asahi ANiMAZiNG!!! block follows at 2:00 AM, and ABEMA offers the fastest streaming starting at 2:30 AM the same night.

What is Wound & Bandage about?

The anime adapts Nanai Umihoshi's romantic comedy manga, which began as a one-shot in February 2024 before launching full serialization that August on Kodansha's Comic Days platform under its Monthly Magazine Base label. Five collected volumes have been published to date, and the series earned a nomination for the Next Manga Award 2026 in the web category. The television anime adaptation was first announced in July 2026.

The story follows Go Kiritani, a young yakuza lieutenant assigned to look after Riyo Washizu, the seemingly innocent daughter of his boss. She looks like a quiet, harmless kid, but she hides an unusual fascination: she is thrilled by the sight of strong people weakened or injured — a self-described "yowarer." As Kiritani gets swept up in her eccentric desires, the two begin to grow closer in this offbeat romantic comedy.

A young yakuza underboss is ordered to protect his boss's daughter — a seemingly innocent girl with an unexpected fascination for strong people at their most vulnerable.
