Deadpool 3 is one of the most highly anticipated releases in 2024 and the only one under the MCU banner that will come out next year. With the arrival of the Merc With A Mouth to the MCU, he brings with him Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and other possible appearances that could make his MCU debut as memorable as possible. Reportedly, Deadpool 3 will also have a variant of the titular anti-hero with Kidpool and the actor who would possibly play the role is Percy Jackson and the Olympians' lead star, Walker Scobell who speaks up on the matter.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is opening up its possibilities to endless stories as the multiverse introduces new ways on how to include new characters into the current narrative. Following Disney's acquisition of Fox, characters like Deadpool and the X-Men can now enter the MCU and Deadpool 3 is one of the upcoming movies to bring this to reality. As variants are also introduced in the MCU, a variant of the Merc With A Mouth is possible to appear with Walker Scobell potentially playing Kidpool, and speaking with Josh Wilding of ComicBookMovie.com, here's what Scobell has to say on the matter when asked whether he would play the role in Deadpool 3:
Not that I know of, but I learned a lot of valuable lessons from them that I used while filming Percy Jackson. And, um, yeah, I'm not sure—I'm hoping to reunite someday, but I don't know.
Scobell neither confirmed nor denied the matter but his hopes of reuniting with Ryan Reynolds may have revealed its possibility. This is not the first time that Walker Scobell would work with Ryan Reynolds if and when he would actually play Kidpool in Deadpool 3. Scobell previously worked with Reynolds in The Adam Project where he played the younger version of the latter in the movie.
Who is Kidpool and is he in Deadpool 3?
In the Marvel Comics, Kidpool is also Wade Wilson but from Earth 10330, making him a variant from an alternate future reality. Kidpool entered the Xavier Orphanage for Troubled Boys for "conduct disorder" as he does not conform with the socially accepted rules. He met with Deadpool from Earth-616 where they went on a mission to save the multiverse.
Considering the current track of the MCU with the multiverse and the variants, there is a possibility for Kidpool to be in Deadpool 3 but the confirmation of it remains under wraps. This goes the same way for the rumored appearances of other stars in the movie such as Taylor Swift who is rumored to play Dazzler, Taron Egerton as a possible variant of Wolverine, and Halle Berry's speculated return as Storm.
Deadpool 3 arrives in theaters on July 26, 2024.
