The Marvel Cinematic Universe brings in one of the most highly anticipated arrivals in the franchise following Disney's acquisition of Fox and it gets a grand entrance being the only MCU movie to come out in 2024, Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds is returning as the Merc with a Mouth and he is bringing with his an old famous pal of his, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Also coming back to reprise a role from before is Morena Baccarin who played Vanessa, the wife of Wade Wilson, and she teases her upcoming reinvented relationship with her husband in the third movie installment.
Morena Baccarin plays the wife of Wade Wilson, Vanessa, in the first two Deadpool movies and she met her fate in Deadpool 2 where she was accidentally killed by one of the guys who were after Deadpool. Now, Baccarin spoke to Screen Rant, confirming her return as Vanessa, teasing her Deadpool 3 appearance, and reinventing Vanessa and Wade's relationship. Baccarin shared:
I think it’s really cool that they are such well-met characters and that their lives... You can see them in and out of each other’s lives constantly. The comic, it’s the same way. So I think that the franchise and Ryan and the director, they’ve done a really great job of always reinventing that relationship and making it interesting, but maintaining the core thing that keeps them always coming back to each other. So I think there’s a little bit more of that in this film.
Vanessa's death was one of the main points in Deadpool 2 and with Deadpool 3 changing things up, Vanessa may return in some capacity. How the MCU will make it happen remains a mystery waiting to be revealed once the movie comes out in theaters. With the MCU's multiverse, anything is now possible.
Who else are joining Deadpool 3?
Ryan Reynolds, of course, is reprising his role as the titular Merc with a Mouth since he is one of the producers of the movie as well. Reynolds finally got Hugh Jackman to come back for his Wolverine role following his farewell in Logan. As mentioned above, Morena Baccarin will return as Vanessa, the wife of Wade Wilson, and her reprisal of the role could either retcon Deadpool 2 or they found a way to bring her back to life in Deadpool 3.
Also joining Deadpool 3 are Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Rob Delaney as Peter. All of them are making the jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool 3 will also have Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen in undisclosed roles. Dogpool is also making his MCU debut. In addition to all these names, there are rumors that Jennifer Garner may appear as Elektra in Deadpool 3.
Deadpool 3 is currently slated for a theatrical release on July 26, 2024.
