What Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 Will Be About

Rent-a-Girlfriend, known as Kanojo, Okarishimasu in Japanese, is based on a manga by Reiji Miyajima, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since July 2017. With over 13 million copies in circulation, the manga has captivated readers with its modern take on romance, exploring the complexities of relationships through the lens of a “rental girlfriend” service. Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English, bringing its blend of humor, drama, and heartfelt moments to a global audience.

Season 4 will dive into the much-anticipated Hawaii Trip arc, a pivotal storyline in the manga that takes the characters out of their familiar settings and into a tropical paradise. The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a 20-year-old college student reeling from a painful breakup with his first girlfriend, Mami Nanami. In a bid to move on, Kazuya turns to a rental girlfriend service, where he meets Chizuru Mizuhara, a charismatic and professional rental girlfriend. What begins as a transactional arrangement quickly spirals into a web of genuine emotions, complicated by the arrival of other characters like Ruka Sarashina, Sumi Sakurasawa, and Mini Yaemori, each bringing their own dynamics to Kazuya’s life. The Hawaii Trip arc promises to escalate these relationships, as the group navigates new challenges and romantic entanglements against the backdrop of a sun-soaked vacation. Expect heightened drama, comedic mishaps, and moments of vulnerability as Kazuya grapples with his feelings and the consequences of his choices.
