In exciting news for fans of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise, a new trailer for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 has been released, offering a thrilling preview of the game's adaptation of the Swordsmith Village Arc. The trailer, revealed today, highlights the upcoming sequel to the popular 2021 fighting game, developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Aniplex.
The trailer provides a glimpse into the Swordsmith Village Arc, a fan-favorite storyline from Koyoharu Gotouge’s original manga and its anime adaptation. This arc follows Tanjiro Kamado and his companions as they journey to the hidden Swordsmith Village to repair their Nichirin Blades, encountering new challenges and formidable foes, including powerful demons from Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks. The trailer teases intense battles, stunning visuals, and faithful recreations of iconic moments from the arc, promising an immersive experience for players.
The game’s Digital Deluxe Edition will include two Kimetsu Academy character unlock keys for Kyojuro Rengoku and Tengen Uzui, plus four additional character unlock keys for Tengen Uzui, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima. It also features Vs. Mode system voices and exclusive costumes. In Japan, a special edition will offer a physical figure alongside digital content, including in-game costumes. Pre-orders come with a unique set of illustrated cases designed by Ufotable, and special Digital Deluxe versions will also be available for purchase.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 builds on the success of its predecessor, which combined arena-based combat with a story mode that retold key moments from the Demon Slayer anime. The sequel is expected to feature updated gameplay mechanics, enhanced graphics, and an expanded roster of playable characters, including those introduced in the Swordsmith Village Arc. The trailer showcases dynamic fight scenes featuring Tanjiro, Nezuko, and other Demon Slayers, alongside breathtaking animations that capture the essence of Ufotable’s acclaimed anime adaptation.
Previously, character trailers for Genya Shinazugawa, Hantengu, and Gyokko were released, showcasing their unique fighting styles and roles in the Swordsmith Village Arc. These trailers introduced Genya, a key ally, and the Upper Rank demons Hantengu and Gyokko, building anticipation for the game’s dynamic combat system.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam) in North America and Europe on August 5. The game will be released on August 1 in Japan. The first The Hinokami Chronicles game was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in October 2021, and on Nintendo Switch in June 2022.
