Following the original trilogy, Star Wars entered into having its prequel trilogy which marked one of the most anticipated events in the '90s and later, as another successful set of Star Wars movies. The actress leading the prequel movies was Natalie Portman who played Padmé Amidala. Surprisingly, the actress admits that she did not see the original trilogy before being cast in the prequel and she only saw the movies when she was approached for the role.

Padmé Amidala remains to be one of the most prominent figures in the Star Wars lore even decades after her death in the franchise. Natalie Portman was stellar in her performance that despite having roles before Star Wars, being Padmé Amidala was the one that skyrocketed her to the fame that she currently holds. Speaking with Radio Times magazine (via Female First), Natalie Portman admitted that she did not watch the original Star Wars trilogy before being cast and that despite not watching, she was familiar with the Star Wars lore:

I didn't know the films at all before I was cast! I was aware of the lingo, as American culture is so immersed in Star Wars.
Even if you've never seen the movies, you know what Princess Leia buns are, what a lightsaber is, what a Jedi is, you know who Yoda and Obi-Wan are... you know all these words and names before you even see the films. But I only saw the films when I was approached to do them.

The fame of Star Wars not only spread throughout the US, it also reached a worldwide fame that everyone knows that there is a franchise called Star Wars. Despite not watching the movies, it is a given that there are some Star Wars details that one would know.

Over the past few years, prequel trilogy actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen already made their reprisal of their Star Wars roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker respectively. Both of these actors were with Natalie Portman in the prequel trilogy and so far, Portman has not returned in Star Wars yet. A theory from X user @blurayangel suggests that Natalie Portman could come back in Star Wars through Abeloth, a villain from Legends that Ahsoka recently set up.

Legends show that in the past, the Father, Son, and Daughter lived with the Mother who corrupted herself for her fear of death with the use of forbidden power, thus, being a Force of pure chaos and entropy, Abeloth. To see such a corrupted being take on the form of Padmé Amidala would not only be a surprise but a nice twist to Natalie Portman's portrayal if ever it will happen.
