Heroes may seem invincible and unstoppable but in real life, they are just humans, too, who get hurt. Marvel recently introduced the titular hero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with actor Simu Liu as the lead. Recently, the star the shared on Instagram that he suffered a serious injury that could take months to recover from.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Barbie actor Simu Liu lives an active lifestyle with various recreational sports and fitness regiments here and there. He shows a great prowess in dancing in Barbie where he played Ken among the other Kens. However, the actor revealed that he suffered an Achilles' heel which would take around half a year to a year to fully heal, but he remains thankful for his friends who carry him around. See the post below:

The reason behind the Achilles' heel injury of Simu Liu remains unknown and the actor did not disclose whether he got the injury from a movie set or somewhere else. Given his active lifestyle, Simu Liu could have gotten the injury anywhere. With such time being the recovery period for the injury, it is a question whether this could affect his return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It is highly unlikely that Simu Liu's injury will affect his return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Shang-Chi considering that it will take some time before his character would return to the franchise. Looking at the current slate of the MCU, Simu Liu is bound to return as Shang-Chi in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty which is scheduled for a May 1, 2026 release date. With the injury taking half a year to a year to make full recovery, Simu Liu may return just in time to prepare for the upcoming ensemble of heroes. There is no news yet for Shang-Chi 2.

The effect of the SAG strike is also not looking good on the current schedule of releases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Various projects like Deadpool 3 and Daredevil: Born Again are already delayed indefinitely. While the release date of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is still far, the MCU faces a domino effect where one delay means the delay of all else after it. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will have Destin Daniel Cretton on the director's seat and Cretton is no stranger working with Simu Liu as the former directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
