Marvel Reportedly Dropping Jonathan Majors' Kang as Multiverse Saga's Main Villain

If Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror would not be the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, how will there be an Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a fair share of villains that shake the stories up but throughout its long history, while there are minor ones appearing in each project, there remains one that the franchise sets up to be the central villain of a whole saga. The Infinity Saga witnessed the rise of the Mad Titan, Thanos, on his quest to collect all the infinity stones and obliterate half of the universe. After that, the next big bad of the MCU was supposedly Kang the Conqueror for the Multiverse Saga, but reportedly, Marvel Studios would be dropping Jonathan Majors' character as the main villain of the current saga.

Kang the Conqueror is one terrifying villain in the Marvel Comics and his variants are no less sinister than him, too. The Marvel Cinematic Universe already set him up through Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and his variants in Loki Seasons 1 and 2. However, new reports suggests that the MCU will not be steering away from the Kang storyline.

As reported by Forbes, Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror and his variants may be in jeopardy as the author of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, Joanna Robinson, disclosed on the House of R Ringer podcast that Marvel reportedly cut ties with Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness from Avengers: The Kang Dynasty because the franchise is backing off of Kang altogether. Robinson revealed:

I heard from someone recently...the screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who wrote Quantumania , was supposed to write The Kang Dynasty ...anyway, it's confirmed. I had it confirmed to me he's no longer working for Marvel. I asked the person why, and they said the reason why is he was all wrapped up in this Kang storyline and they are likely going to be moving away from that.

Why is the MCU backing away from Kang as the main villain?

There is no doubt that Jonathan Majors was cast for the role of Kang the Conqueror because of his acting prowess as seen in the MCU where he already pulled off three variants of the villain, Kang, Victor Timely, and He Who Remains, with such distinction that one could easily identify which is which. Unfortunately, troubles are in Majors' corner following his assault charge from his former partner in March this year and that led to more alleged victims claiming that they, too, were assaulted by the actor. Majors is currently scheduled for a trial on November 29.

To date, Marvel Studios remain quiet as regards the current issue with Jonathan Majors. Some speculations surface that Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror would just be recast with Damson Idris, but others think that MCU will just abandon Kang and put Doctor Doom as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga. This also puts Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in question considering that the character is expected to be the central antagonist of the upcoming movie.
