Loki fans have many questions regarding the future of Jonathan Majors going forward in the franchise. However, there are many indications that Kang’s character might be a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we jump into the next two Avengers films in a couple of years. It looks like Marvel has huge plans for the villain in the future, especially now that Avengers: Kang Dynasty is in the picture.

However, the team behind Marvel’s Loki didn’t pay much attention to Kang and what he might do in the future of the MCU. In an interview with Comicbook.com, the writer of Loki Season 2, Eric Martin, stated that he isn’t sure about Kang’s role in the MCU as Phase Five commences. He said, "Well, I'm not sure [of] plans going forward, that's a greater Marvel decision for me." Instead of Kang, Martin and his team paid more attention to his variant, Victor Timely and the effect he’s going to have on the show’s story. He said:

It was like, 'Okay, let's see a different version of this. What is the surprising thing with Victor Timely?' And I think you go there expecting this powerful villainous person, and instead, you find somebody that's a bit of a huckster, but you know what? He knows what he's doing. He's just born in the wrong time. And I think there's just a lot of interesting character stuff in there. So, it felt like rich and meaty territory. So it's like, let's run in that direction. And it just all felt good.

Loki Season 2 stole the spotlight from the actual Kang as well as his plans and also didn’t include many Easter Eggs or hints regarding the Fantastic Four. Martin explained, "We did think about weaving in some stuff from the comic version, but ultimately, it was just like, 'No, let's just kind of do our own version of him.' And we have the Wisconsin stuff, which is part of it. But that's, I think, one of the only things."

Loki Season 2 Episodes 5 and 6 Considered The Show’s Best

The executive producer of Loki, Kevin Wright, recently shared that Episodes 5 and 6 are considered the series’ best and described them as “beautiful.” Wright said, "I think that's the beauty of Episodes 5 and 6. If people liked Episode 4, I genuinely think 5 and 6 are maybe the two best episodes of this series. They're beautiful, and they're profound. They're deeply moving. And we only get to go there because of that story acceleration."

Wright further claimed that they learned many lessons from Loki Season 1, which motivated the show’s team to continue the story at a much faster pace. He said, "What we always like to do in all of the scripts, and all of our storytelling, is that thing you think is going to happen in Episode 6, or could happen in the finale or towards the end, what happens if we move that forward? What if we just accelerate all of the storytelling, hit it early."

What is Loki Season 2 about?

Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his role as the God of Mischief in Loki Season 2 for some more time-traveling fun on Disney+. The show premiered on October 6, in which Mobius (Owen Wilson) joins Loki in a quest to keep the timelines intact. In Season 1, we saw his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) eliminate He Who Remains and bring the wrath of Kang the Conqueror to the Multiverse.

Now, it’s Loki’s mission to keep reality from crumbling down in Season 2. The last we saw Loki was in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s post-credits scene, in which the God of Mischief and Mobius were spying on one of the mysterious variants of Kang.
