Bodies, Netflix's latest crime/science fiction title, has been topping the streamer's Top 10 charts since it debuted on October 19, 2023, and now, geek icon Kevin Smith is recommending the show right now. During an episode of Fat Man Beyond on YouTube last week, the filmmaker who's well-known for his Jay and Silent Bob and Clerks movies, called the limited series "fantastic", praising the British crime sci-fi as addictive and watchable.

"Fantastic....Oh, my lord, so f--king watchable," Smith praised. "When Netflix picks, sometimes they pick so insanely well. they just know what we want to see, man. Squid Game, Tiger King or whatever, Stranger Things obviously, but this is definitely just one of those things where it's just designed that as soon as the first one's done, you want to pop the next one on. It's like Lay's potato chips as a show. Very well acted, cool idea."

The show received positive reviews from critics and fans, but since Bodies is considered a "limited series", it's likely that the there are no plans to release another season. When writer Paul Tomalin was asked about the possibility for future episodes, he told Hello! magazine said that there were no plans.

"We went to Netflix like 'This is one series, this is a one and done, we wanna close this off' because I think when you have such an amazing concept up front, you [expletive] your audience off if you don't solve it," he explained.  "As the viewer, I hate it when you get this amazing thing. And at the end it's like, 'Duh, duh, duh,' and you're like 'Right so I've got to wait a year and a half.'

He added: "I think it's a duty to an audience with something that's this propulsive as a story concept to end it and solve it. So we really wanted you to feel that you'd seen the red curtain at the end. That being said, when you see the back end, there's certainly a dot dot dot. But the premise that the show sets comes to an end."

What is Netflix's Bodies about?

Bodies is based on the mind-bending DC graphic novel of the same title written by Si Spencer and illustrated by Dean Ormston, Tula Lotay, Meghan Hetrick, and Phil Winslade. Netflix provided the following synopsis for Bodies:

Bodies  is a police procedural with a twist. When a body – the  same  body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London's East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, one detective from each period must investigate. As connections are drawn across the decades, the detectives soon discover their investigations are linked, and an enigmatic political leader – Elias Mannix (Stephen Graham) – becomes increasingly central. Did he have a part to play in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play? To solve the mystery, our four detectives must somehow collaborate and uncover a conspiracy spanning over 150 years.
