The entire Isekai genre has taken the anime industry by storm with its increasing popularity in recent years. However, there is one series in particular that has become quite a hit in the Isekai series, which is Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. This anime series from Studio Bind has only recently entered its second season.

If you are not quite sure what an Isekai series is, it’s a show that usually features a protagonist who is transported from the “normal world” to one full of monsters, magic, and other such supernatural forms. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is the perfect example of the Isekai genre, featuring the lead, Rudeus, who goes from a Japanese shut-in to a full-on sorcerer. Some other Isekai examples from Studio Bind include Overlord, Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, and many more.

Recently, during a talk with Comicbook.com, the CEO of Studio Bind, Nobuhiro Osawa, shared his thoughts about the Isekai genre. He also mentioned what he looks forward to the most from the second season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, featuring Rudeus and his powerful companions.

Mushoku Tensei Exec Explains The Increasing Popularity of Isekai

When Nobuhiro Osawa was asked why he decided to lean more into the Isekai genre as well as his approach to anime in general, the CEO said that many Isekai, along with other genres, have become quite successful. He stated that he decided to make Mushoku Tensei, Sword Art Online, and other such anime simply because they were successful. Nobuhiro is also a fan of them, so he ended up leaning toward this genre. You can read his full response below:

"Many Isekai, and but also other genres in anime, have become successful. If I think about it – Danmachi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), Sword Art Online, Mushoku Tensei are successful, but honestly, I want to make these anime in the first place as it is interesting. So I say okay. I like this, so I want to make this genre. It works for me. More than wanting to stand out, I just like them. That is really the origin story. This isn't limited to this show but any I have done."

Osawa further emphasized what he looks forward to the most from the Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, "For me, it is really the audience reaction. The first time you premiere an anime, that reaction is priceless and critical to life. The feedback. It makes you want to make anime."
