A new trailer for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 has dropped, introducing the sibling pair Warren Flumvelk and Shueste Flumvelk into the story. The footage highlights their connection to Beryl while advancing the season’s focus on the swordmaster’s expanding responsibilities in the capital.

Kensho Ono, known for voicing Yuri Briar in SPY x FAMILY, takes on the role of Warren Flumvelk, once a pupil under Beryl’s guidance. Sumire Uesaka, who portrayed Lum in the 2022 Urusei Yatsura series, voices his sister Shueste, an elegant noble who has turned her attention toward the instructor her brother once trained under.
Akio Kazumi, previously behind Loner Life in Another World, returns to helm the second season at studios Passione and Hayabusa Film. Series composition duties stay with Kunihiko Okada of The Eminence in Shadow, while Satsuki Hayasaki continues handling character designs and chief animation direction after her work on Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki. Yasuharu Takanashi, the composer for Fairy Tail, once again provides the score.
What is From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 about?
The series originates from the light novel written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. It falls into the fantasy and comedy genres with strong action elements centered on swordsmanship and mentor-student dynamics. Square Enix publishes the light novel volumes in Japan, while J-Novel Club handles the English edition.

Beryl Gardenant, a self-proclaimed “humble old man,” is a sword instructor at his dojo in a rural, backwater village. In his younger years, he dreamed of glory as a master swordsman, but those days are long behind him. Out of the blue, he receives a visit from a famous former pupil who brings him world-shattering news—he’s been appointed as a special instructor for the knights of the Liberion Order! With his life now turned upside down, Beryl travels to the capital and reunites with some of his former students: elite knights, an ace wizard, and even an adventurer who’s attained the highest guild rank possible. But why do they all want his tutelage?! As far as he’s concerned, they clearly don’t need him anymore. Can Beryl live up to his new position? And will he ever get a moment’s peace away from his adoring students?!
Season 2 picks up with Beryl continuing his role training knights of the Liberion Order in the capital. New challenges arise as requests for his expertise expand beyond the Order, including assistance with specialized instruction at other institutions, while additional former connections and new figures enter the picture and further complicate his attempts at a quiet life.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 launched in Japan on July 8, 2026, and continues its weekly run. Viewers outside Japan can watch the full season exclusively on Prime Video as new episodes become available.
