When the Daredevil series on Netflix was discontinued, many were concerned on whether the titular hero and his nemesis, Kingpin, could come back in the MCU, and thankfully, Marvel Studios heeded the call of the fans to bring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio back as Daredevil and Kingpin respectively within the MCU. Both of them are expected to return soon in the upcoming Disney+ series Echo which would be the first time they would unite in the MCU. Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio now talks about being in the MCU and he thinks there are only two heroes that could defeat Wilson Fisk, plus the catch that they need to work together to bring him down.
Vincent D'Onofrio made his MCU debut as he reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin in the Hawkeye series. In the MCU, he was introduced alongside Maya Lopez who will be having her own titular show, Echo, which could be the first time that Kingpin and Daredevil would face each other in the franchise. When asked who among the MCU heroes could defeat Kingpin, speaking with Jake's Takes, Vincent D'Onofrio thinks that there are only two heroes that could do it but with a catch that the two would need to work together to defeat Kingpin:
D'Onofrio was right to cite that Kingpin did not die in the main timeline in the comics but the character did face his demise in an alternate universe which was too R-rated for the current MCU. So far, Kingpin has not yet met either Daredevil or Spider-Man in the MCU.
Where will Kingpin appear next in the MCU after Echo?
Aside from his upcoming appearance on Echo, Kingpin is already slated for a return in another Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. In Echo, Kingpin is expected to be scarier and more violent and with the series being R-rated, there is no holding back on how brutally ruthless Kingpin is in the MCU. Echo marks Kingpin's reunion with Daredevil, too, and their story is expected to continue once Daredevil: Born Again arrives.
To date, Daredevil: Born Again still hasn't entered into production again after it was put to halt by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and with a complete overhaul on the people working on the series, the show's production would still keep some scenes that were already shot before the overhaul. Daredevil: Born Again is currently being worked on under new leadership with the Punisher showrunner, Dario Scardapane. The show also has new co-directors, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, and previous writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman will now be credited as executive producers.
Echo comes out on Disney+ on January 9 with all the five episodes arriving at once. Daredevil: Born Again has no new release date yet.
