Dahyun and Cha Woo-min Begin Filming First-Love Romance Film 'Clouds Roll Like Gureumi'

A pink wheelchair, a school pool and a swimmer hiding his wounds collide in Clouds Roll Like Gureumi, the first-love film Dahyun and Cha Woo-min have just started shooting.

Cameras are now rolling on a high school romance built around two teenagers who meet at a school swimming pool. TWICE's Dahyun leads the film as Gu Reum, a cheerful art club student who has used a wheelchair for all 17 years of her life, opposite Cha Woo-min as Jun-san, a promising swimmer whose confidence in the water hides wounds he has never shown anyone.

The production company announced the start of filming on October 21. In its announcement, the company said, "The film Clouds Roll Like Gureumi (literal title) has assembled a fresh cast featuring Dahyun and Cha Woo Min and has begun filming with a target release in 2027."

Clouds Roll Like Gureumi follows the two students as an unlikely meeting turns into first love and personal growth. Each of them becomes someone truly special to the other, even though the road there is described as a tumultuous one for both teenagers.

A School Pool Meeting That Starts With an Art Assignment

Gu Reum has paraplegia and has navigated the world in a wheelchair for her entire life. Rather than hiding it away, she proudly shows off her pink wheelchair, and she carries a sunny charm, a brighter personality and stronger self-esteem than anyone around her.

Her story takes its turn through her school art club. Consumed by a desire to see and draw abdominal muscles firsthand, Gu Reum heads to the school swimming pool, which is where her path crosses with Jun-san's for the first time.

At the pool, Gu Reum becomes the volunteer work mentor for Jun-san. He has been kicked out of training after fighting with a senior student, and the volunteer work he is forced to do puts the two of them together as her first love begins.

Jun-san is a high school student with a promising future in swimming, an impressive physique and striking looks. On the surface, he has everything a young athlete could want, with swimming dominating his thoughts and his daily life.

Underneath that surface, Jun-san hides insecurities and emotional wounds that others know nothing about. He grows closer to Gu Reum through the volunteer work, and he develops feelings for her as they spend more time together.

Those feelings do not come easily to him. Jun-san struggles with the deep-seated self-loathing he has carried for years, and that inner conflict sits at the center of his side of the romance.

The film is directed by Choi Sun-min, who previously worked as a co-director on the JTBC dramas King the Land, Miss Night and Day and Waiting for Gyeongdo. The screenplay was written by Shin Hyun-ji, with Take One Company presenting the project and Take One Studio and SLL producing it.

The casting pairs two actors whose screen careers have accelerated quickly. Dahyun has been building an acting résumé alongside her work with TWICE, with roles in You Are the Apple of My Eye, Run to You and Love Me already behind her before taking this film lead.

Cha Woo-min arrives as one of the most closely watched young actors of his generation. His recent run includes Study Group, Buried Hearts and My Bias, My Boss, and this role moves him from school-set action and supporting romance into the lead of a theatrical first-love story.
