Despite the uncertainty about its future, the demand and discussions for Alita: Battle Angel 2 has been growing through the years due to its impressive style and large story that managed to take a mark on pop culture. Although 20th Century Studios has not confirmed anything as of yet, Avatar director James Cameron has recently mentioned working on sequels when asked about his upcoming projects, revealing that there will be two Alita films in the works.
For starters, the original Alita movie was based on the manga series Yukito Kishiro wrote, which followed the story of Alita, a cyborg who must undergo a journey to rediscover who she is after she lost her memory. It remains to be seen what Alita: Battle Angel 2 will cover, but it is expected to pick up where the first installment left off.
The original Alita: Battle Angel movie, written by James, is Robert Rodriguez’s highest-grossing film up to this day, earning over $400 million at the global box office. Needless to say, fans are excited to see how well the successors perform, as they have a very high standard to meet. As avid followers await for more details about the forthcoming movie, here is everything you need to know about Alita: Battle Angel 2.

Since James Cameron may have just confirmed that Alita: Battle Angel 2 and Alita: Battle Angel 3 are in the works, it is impossible to say when the official release dates of the sequels could be. Also, due to Rodriguez’s hints that production would not kick off until James has more free time, Alita 2 would not be released until after Avatar 5 hit the theaters in December 2028.
Since it took James Cameron 16 years to complete the original movie, there is even less confidence in the potential Alita: Battle Angel 2 release date. On the other hand, based on Cameron's comments, it seems like a shooting location has already been determined.
