Ahsoka has been filled with references to the animated Star Wars shows, and its finale once again continues this trend. Among the notable allusions is Baylan Skoll's enigmatic pursuit which appears to be linked to the Mortis gods introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Additionally, the cleverly titled The Jedi, The Witch, and The Warlord unveils a pivotal moment involving Morgan Elsbeth and a weapon of great significance gifted to her by the Nightsisters of Dathomir.

In Ahsoka Episode 8, the Great Mothers bestow upon Morgan Elsbeth a legendary Nightsister sword known as the Blade of Talzin. It is a direct reference to Mother Talzin, a prominent character throughout The Clone Wars. The weapon was a fitting one to present Morgan considering that she would later use it against a former Jedi.

It is also noted that the gift was not given before the Great Mothers anointed Morgan as a Nightsister. The brief yet terrifying ceremony seemingly confirmed that Morgan is willing to do anything in the name of Dathomir and that included wielding a dead shaman's weapon.

Who is Mother Talzin?

Mother Talzin held leadership over the Nightsisters on Dathomir, including figures like Asajj Ventress, who was previously mentioned in Ahsoka Episode 7. She was a shaman whose expertise in magicks was significant enough to attract the attention of Darth Sidious. Notably, Mother Talzin also holds the distinction of being the mother of Darth Maul, who would eventually become Sidious' Apprentice.

Fans of The Clone Wars would also note that the sword named after Talzin was previously wielded by the shaman during a significant duel against Mace Windu. Years later, Morgan, a descendant of the Nightsisters of Dathomir, employs this blade in her confrontation with Ahsoka Tano. However, this fateful encounter ultimately leads to Morgan's downfall, as Ahsoka utilizes the weapon to vanquish her foe.

For now, it's unlikely that we'll see the Blade of Talzin (or Talzin herself) in the future. However, it was interesting that the character was referenced in the same episode that confirmed a connection to the Mortis Gods. With that in mind, we won't be surprised if Talzin is referenced yet again in the second season of Ahsoka.
