There are times when rejections lead to bigger and better opportunities. This proves to be true for Zack Snyder who is now building his own universe under Netflix starting with Rebel Moon Part One - A Child of Fire and this is just the beginning of his adventures on the streaming platform. The director just reveals that he goes beyond breaking the bounds of the rules of Star Wars in making his own franchise, and he continues to look back to the moment when he was rejected by Lucasfilm.
Many moons ago, in 2012, Zack Snyder made a pitch to Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy with the concept of his two-part sci-fi film Rebel Moon as a Star Wars trilogy but this, clearly, did not push through. A decade after, his Rebel Moon films has been taken in by Netflix. Speaking with IGN, Zack Snyder recalled what happened to his pitch a decade ago, he said, "In the end, it would have been a cage I was living in. So in the end it allowed me to be a lot more freaky.”
Zack Snyder added in the same interview how Rebel Moon would break the bounds of the rules of Star Wars, "In a lot of ways it's better for the movie that I ended up having to do it outside of the Star Wars universe because I think that there's a lot of rules that I would've had to have broken of Star Wars canon." Snyder also reveals that he got the freedom he needed to creating the mythos of the two films, he said:
Zack Snyder credits his Russian roots as well in creating an entirely new language for Rebel Moon, "If you have an aptitude towards a certain way of phrasing or sound shapes those make the language easier to speak of course." Snyder's creativity got its liberality under Netflix and his upcoming movie is expected to create an entirely new universe for everyone to enjoy on the streaming platform.
