Wednesday, the hit spin-off series of The Addams Family created by Tim Burton, is all set to take Ireland's production industry to the next level. Following the show’s massive success and its filming in Romania, the producers decided to film the second season in Ireland. This decision is going to give a huge economic boost to the country’s local economy.

However, Variety recently claimed in one of their recent posts that this wasn’t much of a surprise as this news was somewhat unofficially known for some time. Screen Ireland claims that this production is set to make Wednesday “the largest production to ever film in Ireland” due to the amount spent locally. This means it has surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to Variety, the Irish Prime Minister Taoiseach Simon Harris recently went to the set of Wednesday and met with Tim Burton, along with showrunners Miles Millar, Alfred Gough, and a few other members of the Netflix show’s cast and crew. In a statement, Harris said:

I'm delighted to see Ireland continues to be chosen as a location to film series and movies which supports our economy, creates jobs, showcases our creative talents and promotes our country on a global stage.

However, it’s important to remember that both Ireland and Northern Ireland aren’t in one place. This means that Wednesday set this record without having to compete with shows like Game of Thrones and Krypton, both of which were filmed in Belfast and had complicated productions.

As of now, the plot details for Wednesday’s Season 2 have not been officially released, but the fans can anticipate the story to continue featuring Wednesday Addam’s (Jenna Ortega’s) mysterious adventures with a sullen face. The second season at Nevermore Academy is highly likely to delve deeper into her psychic powers and dark humor.

The fans should be ready to watch more of the quirky affairs of The Addams Family. Ortega, in a recent chat with Variety, said that the show is going to emphasize more on the horror side of the story and abandon the love interests. With Jenna Ortega returning as Wednesday Addams, who is the heart of the show, we can look forward to watching our favorite cast as well.

Wednesday Season 2 will also star Steve Buscemi, Luis Guzman, Christopher Lloyd, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Thandiwe Newton, Hunter Doohan, Fred Armisen, Victor Dorobantu, and Billie Piper. On top of this, the upcoming season will also feature Haley Joel Osment, Moosa Mostafa, Heather Matarazzo, Georgie Farmer, Owen Painter, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Isaac Ordonez, Evie Templeton, Noah Taylor, Frances O'Connor, Joonas Suotamo, Jamie McShane and more.

However, it has been confirmed that Peter Hynes White, who played the role of Xavier Thorpe, won’t be returning to the show since he was accused of sexual abuse in 2023. Other than that, this is quite an exciting cast, and we can’t wait to see them all together on the same screen.
