Last month, Riot Games announced that its super-successful tactical first-person shooter VALORANT was finally coming to consoles, and though a launch date wasn't officially confirmed, it quickly entered beta on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it went relatively well. Now, a little more than a month after the beta, it seems that the game is heading to consoles in just a few days.
According to prominent leaker @eXtas1stv on X/Twitter, VALORANT's ongoing limited console beta is coming to an end soon, and that the game will fully launch on consoles later this week, on Friday, July 26. If accurate, this would indicate a fast turnaround from last month's test and would result in the game releasing on consoles sooner than what many expected. Riot Games hasn't officially confirmed a launch date for consoles yet, other than confirming that it's launching at some point this year, so its console launch this week is definitely feasible.
VALORANT has been one of the biggest games on PC since it launched in 2020, and it'll likely be one of the biggest free-to-play games across the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you're wondering if console players will be able to play with PC players, Riot already confirmed that the servers for consoles will be separate, so don't expect any crossplay with PC, but Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to play together.
The leaker also claimed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to Game Pass later this week.
How to get access to VALORANT Console Limited Beta?
If you already want to test the VALORANT on either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you can register for the ongoing VALORANT Console Limited Beta on the registration page. Once registered, check your email for any invitations to access the game, and those who are invited will be able to invite 5 friends to join them, with their personal referral link.
If you're wondering how progression works, players will have the same account for either PC or console, and al progression they make while playing on any platform will stay with your Riot account always. That means anything you've already earned or purchased on the PC will also be available for you to use on console. Riot confirmed that any progress on the Battlepass, skins you purchase or unlock, and Agents you recuit will carry over between PC and console, and will remain in your account once the Limited Beta is over.
We'll have to wait for an official confirmation on VALORANT's official launch on consoles but it's worth noting that the leaker has a solid reputation of sharing accurate information in the past, so expect the game to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S soon.
