Riot Games officially announced VALORANT Mobile in 2021, and although details of the highly-anticipated mobile game have been scarce, fans are expecting a lot of the same elements from the original PC version of Riot's massively popular tactical shooter. During VALORANT's first year livestream, the game's executive producer Anna Donlon said that "we're thrilled to soon offer the same competitive VALORANT experience to even more global players." However, it looks like fans anticipating for the mobile version will have to wait longer than they expected.
VALORANT Mobile Canceled?
According to recent report, Riot Games is not happy with how Tencent executed the plans to develop VALORANT Mobile, and the leak claims that the development for the mobile version of the 5v5 team-based first-person shooter will be starting from scratch.
Tencent is the company behind popular games like PUBG Mobile, Honor of Knights, Arena of Valor, and Pokemon UNITE, so they clearly have a strong track record when it comes to developing mobile games, but unfortunately, this might not be the case for VALORANT Mobile.
However, take this update with a grain of salt as the report comes from an unofficial source, @SargeOP_, who leaked the information on Twitter, saying, “VALORANT Mobile. Tencent Games has already stopped its development. Riot Games took over VALORANT Mobile and is developing it from scratch. The title is being remade under Riot LA with its console version.”
At the time of this writing, there are currently no official announcements from both Riot Games and Tencent regarding the progress of VALORANT Mobile's development, but given VALORANT's massive fan base and a huge demand for a high-quality FPS mobile game, it's likely that Riot will try to launch VALORANT Mobile in the near future.
Currently, VALORANT Mobile is expected to release sometime in the late 2024 to early 2024, but that's just pure speculation, and until we get official updates from Riot, fans will just have to enjoy the PC version for now.
